Mold

As you  might have learned from reading our mold remediation page, mold is a serious problem in Florida.  In many situations, the mold goes undetected for quite some time spreading mold spores throughout the home.  It thrives inside walls, between walls and cabinets, behind and under tile, and many other places people do not see until they start looking for it.  Proper mold remediation is very important to prevent mold spores from spreading to unaffected areas.

We are going to walk you through a few different types of situations we commonly see as remediators.

This is probably the most common type of mold job we see.   A small leak created a mold problem that was discovered to be larger during demolition.

This is a remediation that started out with a water leak. This is the hole that was necessary to make for the plumbers to stop the leak.

In the bottom of the shower you can see the mold growing under the grout.

You can see the baseboards were removed to dry out the water from the leak. In many cases, this is how mold is discovered. From the picture you cannot see that there is mold behind these cabinets.

When the cabinets are removed you can see the full extent of the mold behind the cabinets.

This slideshow is a nice example of a containment barrier setup.  Containment barriers are put up during remediation to make sure mold spores do not get spread throughout the rest of your home.  For a large containment like this one, zippers are placed in the plastic to allow us to move in and out of the barrier without disrupting the entire setup.  Air scrubbers are placed inside the containment barrier to filter out the spores that are in the air and what gets stirred up when we start removing materials.  The air is vented outside to remove any remaining spores from inside the home.
